History

Founded in 1919 in San Sebastián by Cristóbal Balenciaga, considered by his peers—including Christian Dior himself—as the greatest couturier of the 20th century, the house of Balenciaga established itself as one of the absolute benchmarks of global haute couture. Cristóbal revolutionized the feminine silhouette with architectural cuts of incomparable technical mastery before closing his house in 1968. Relaunched in 1986 and acquired by the Kering group in 2001, the house experienced a spectacular renaissance under the artistic direction of Nicolas Ghesquière, then Demna Gvasalia, who established an avant-garde and deconstructivist positioning that has become one of the most influential signatures in contemporary fashion. This two-tone lilac and white cotton shirt, with its engraved buttons and embroidered BB logo, embodies the expertise and prestige of the house of Balenciaga: rigorous elegance, impeccable finishes, and a strong brand identity.
