History

Valentino Garavani founded his haute couture house in Rome in 1960. From his very first collections, he established himself as the undisputed master of Italian glamour – sumptuous dresses, intense colors, theatrical embellishments. His clients included Jackie Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn, and Elizabeth Taylor. His red: a shade so iconic that it bears his name. In the 1980s and 1990s, during the golden age of Italian haute couture, Valentino expanded his universe to include luxury costume jewelry, calling upon the excellent craftsmanship of Swarovski workshops for his crystals – cut with unparalleled precision and sparkle. These jewels, signed "Valentino" on the back, were designed to extend the controlled opulence of his couture dresses to the smallest accessories. Today, these archive pieces are highly sought after by collectors and connoisseurs of vintage Italian fashion.
