History

Founded in 1953 in Gallarate, Lombardy, by Ottavio and Rosita Missoni, the Italian fashion house revolutionized the world of knitwear by making color and pattern its ultimate weapons. While Italian fashion of the 1950s and 1960s favored sobriety, Missoni introduced an unprecedented chromatic explosion — hundreds of colors, bold geometric patterns, and textures invented on modified, in-house looms. The zigzag motif — inspired by traditional weaving techniques and the family's artistic archives — quickly became the house's most recognizable signature, appearing on all pieces: sweaters, dresses, coats, and of course, scarves. In 1967, Missoni caused a scandal at the Sala Bianca fashion show in Florence by dressing its models without bras under transparent knits — and definitively established itself as one of Italy's most avant-garde fashion houses. Now led by the second generation of the family, Missoni remains true to its DNA: exceptional Made in Italy craftsmanship, a unique color palette, and timeless patterns that transcend decades without ever aging.

Status

Excellent condition. The knit is supple, even, and perfectly preserved – no pilling, no pulled threads, no abnormal wear. The colors of the zigzag pattern are vibrant and consistent, the multicolored fringes intact. The signature orange Missoni label is perfectly intact. Ready-to-wear piece.
