History

Loro Piana's history is rooted in the early 19th century in the Trivero region of Italian Piedmont, where the family first established itself as wool fabric merchants. It was in 1924 that Pietro Loro Piana — an engineer by training — officially founded the house Ing. Loro Piana & C. in Quarona, in the Italian Alps. The house quickly specialized in the production of textiles of absolutely exceptional quality, sourcing directly from the best cashmere breeders in the world — Mongolia, China, Australia — and controlling the entire production chain, from sorting the raw fiber to the final weaving. This unique vertical integration guarantees incomparable quality and consistency. Now owned by LVMH since 2013, Loro Piana is universally considered to be the absolute global benchmark for luxury cashmere. Pieces bearing the old triangular label "Ing. Loro Piana & C." are particularly sought after by connoisseurs — testifying to a time when the house was still a family business at the height of its art.

Loro Piana & C." is characteristic of the brand's collections produced between the 1970s and 1990s, before the gradual modernization of its typography and branding. It is precisely this archival label that allows the piece to be authenticated and dated. Made in Italy, in the pure tradition of alpine textile expertise from the Piedmont region, where the Loro Piana family has written the history of luxury cashmere for over a century.

Status

Very good overall condition for a vintage piece. The cashmere retains its full density, original loft, and particularly soft texture – no excessive pilling, no holes, no abnormal fringe wear. The colors of the plaid pattern are uniform and well-preserved. The triangular archive label is securely sewn and perfectly legible. A testament to careful maintenance over the decades. Ready-to-wear piece.
